Physical and Social Infrastructure

Mix of Retrofitting and Redevelopment strategy for 1023 Acres of core city and surrounding area centered around main Railway Station and Bus Stand. This is essentially to develop urban infrastructure by focusing on  100% coverage of sewerage system, door to door solid waste collection and other infrastructure facilities like road and street lights.

Highlights of the development work are as follows:

  • Assured Electricity Supply with higher energy efficiency and green building
  • Adequate Water Supply including Recycling of waste water and storm water reuse
  • Sanitation including Solid Waste Management
  • Rain Water Harvesting
  • Smart Metering
  • Robust IT Connectivity and Digitization
  • Pedestrian Friendly pathways and Non-Vehicle zone
  • Encouragement to Non-Motorized Transport E.g. walking and cycling
  • Intelligent Traffic Management
  • Innovative use of open spaces
  • Visible Improvement in look and feel of the areas
  • All round safety of citizens and tourists
[lvca_accordion][lvca_panel panel_title=”Street lighting Security and surveillance”]The project shall work towards 100% coverage of ABD area with the efficient street lighting and security surveillances. Emphasizing again on the safety and security of the citizens and the tourist visiting the holy city. There will be 1933 CCTV camera covering the entire city thereby creating an extensive surveillance and monitoring system. There will be coverage of fire hydrant network for the congested areas to tackle any critical situation.[/lvca_panel][lvca_panel panel_title=”Urban Mobility”]This project will envisage immense focus on safe and secure mobility, both for the vehicular movement and pedestrian movement. As well as upgradation and development of roads and pathways.

Essentially it will bring smart developmental impact on and as:

  • 54 km of Major roads and 28.10 km of Minor roads
  • Pedestrian friendly streets with 10 Midblock Pedestrian Crossings
  • There will be barrier free – universally accessible pedestrian paths and crossings
  • Railway over bridge
  • Improved traffic management
  • There will be battery operated E-Rickshaws for safe and easy mobility. The E-rickshaws will have there own Mobile App for the easy access and functionality both for the operators and users.

To meet the safe
drinking water requirements at public places in UMC area, potable water is proposed to be supplied to the consumer
through his/her drinking bottle/ container or through paper cups (in selected public locations). This proposal will be
essential for betterment of the urban environment within UMC, as the usage of consumer’s own bottle/ container would
result in minimizing the high usage of plastic/bottles for drinking water purposes.[/lvca_panel][lvca_panel panel_title=”Waste Water Disposal and Management: Laying of Sewerage”]Ujjain Municipal Corporation envisions making accessible a state of the art   Sewerage System  that will serve Ujjain for minimum 30 years. UMC in partnership with internationally renowned project design and management consultants has awarded this project to a renowned Indian firm for implementation. The integrated sewerage system envisions that sewage is collected systematically in well-designed sewers, transported up to the Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), is treated there in such a way that the effluent satisfies the parameters prescribed by Central Pollution Control Board of India. The Treated Water will be reclaimed for horticulture, road side irrigation, washing of roads and irrigation.

The project envisages following works:

  1. Providing, laying and jointing of sewerage pipelines including construction of manholes and sewer appurtenances
  2. Construction, Supply, Erection and Commissioning of Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and RCC sump well along-with providing and installation of pumps from sump well to STP
  3. Providing house sewer chambers and laterals for connecting sewer to consumer sewer lines
  4. Providing and laying of HT feeder connection up to Sewage treatment plant with PLC-SCADA
  5. Providing House Sewerage Connection
  6. The construction shall be ensured in such a way that there is minimum possible inconvenience to the public and traffic. The reconstruction of roads will be carried out to original surface and pavement conditions.
[/lvca_panel][lvca_panel panel_title=”Underground Utility Ducting in ABD area”]Underground Utility Ducting shall involve Investigation, survey, detailed design and retrofitting & reconstruction of roads consisting of up-gradation, augmentation, underground storm water drainage & retrofitting of open storm water drains, footpath, utility ducts, underground electrification with allied infrastructure, duct for gas pipelines, retrofitting of water supply line, road markings and traffic signage in ABD Area under Ujjain Smart City Project.
